Abstract
In the dehydrogenation of an olefine having at least 4 carbon atoms in the unsaturated chain, using a calcium nickel phosphate catalyst and continuously alternating operations of effecting dehydrogenation at the desired main reaction temperature, part of the dehydrogenation is effected at a temperature at least 15 DEG F. below the said main reaction temperature and subsequently dehydrogenation is effected at the desired main reaction temperature. Preferably a new catalyst is used and the bed temperature adjusted to 1005 DEG F. and a mixed feed of 1 volume of n-butylene and 20 volumes steam introduced at the same temperature, at the end of 1 hour the bed is regenerated with steam at 1005 DEG F. During the next 24 hours the feed temperature is slowly raised to 1045 DEG F. and in the next six days to 1125 DEG F. Specifications 623,580, [Group XXV], 634,391 and 634,580 are referred to.
