Abstract
745,215. Silos. GRAEPEL, F. Feb. 17, 1953 [March 26, 1952], No. 4394/53. Class 20(1). A silo adapted to be readily assembled and taken apart comprises a number of super-- posed rings which are each composed of wall pieces slidably interengaged at their edges and are held together by head and foot rings without the use of bolts or like loose fasteners. Fig. 1 shows a silo tower comprising three superposed rings a, b, c, the wall pieces of which may be formed from latticed sheet material, Fig. 3, having parallel rows of holes and oppositely disposed air channels adapted to give free passage to the cooling air. The wall pieces are arranged in ring form by interengaging their adjacent inturned side edges and the completed rings are located in superposed relation by lower and upper retaining rings k, p, Figs. 6 and 7, the top and bottom of the ring-shaped walls being reinforced by shoes o, m. An opening, which may be closed by a sliding valve, may be provided in the silo wall to receive a discharge branch. Air may be blown into the silo by a pipe extending laterally therein.
