744,693. Ball and socket couplings. ROBERTSHAW, Ltd., M. F. Oct. 22, 1954 [July 22, 1953], No. 20385/53. Class 103 (5). [Also in Group XXII] A ball and socket coupling comprises a steel arm 1 having an annular end 2 around which is cast an alloy socket portion 3 (see Group XXII). A pin 5 having a cut-away portion 6, is pivoted by side arms 10 so that in one position of the pin and cut-away the ball may be released, whilst in another position the part 7 of the pin is turned to engage beneath and lock the ball in the socket. The arm and socket may be integrally drop-forged.
