Abstract

Pigmentary calcium sulphate, and pigments containing calcium sulphate and another pigment such as titanium dioxide, are improved by the admixture of 0.1-0.5 per cent of a straight chain primary amine containing at least 8 carbon atoms. Saturated amines such as octyl, decyl, dodecyl, tetradecyl, hexadecyl, and octadecyl amine, unsaturated amines such as hexadecenyl, octadecenyl, octadecadienyl, and octadecatrienyl amine, and mixtures of amines, may be used. The amine may be added as a solution, e.g. in ethyl alcohol.
