Abstract
743,420. Refrigerating. SOC. ANON. DES USINES CHAUSSON. March 10, 1953, No. 6585/53. Class 29. In a refrigerant compressor 2 comprising pistons 16, 17 actuated by magnetically-vibrated reeds to discharge vapour into the discharge space 21, the compressor and motor are cooled and the discharge of super-heated vapour is avoided by supplying liquid refrigerant by gravity from a subsidiary condenser to the space 21. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, vapour leaves the space 21 through a pipe 22 which runs up one side of a plate 24 and is not attached thereto. Part of the vapour passes down a sinuous condenser coil 29 from which the condensate enters the space 21 through a pipe 23. The other part is condensed in the main condenser 25 and then passes through receiver 31 and pipe 32 to the evaporator, and then returns to the compresser cylinders through a filter 18 and pipes 19, 20. A restrictor 30, which may be a capillary tube, maintains a pressure difference between the two condenser parts. As shown in Fig. 5, division of the discharged vapour is assured by connecting the main condenser 25 to the pipe 22 at a point 34 below the highest point of the pipe 22. As shown in Fig. 6, the discharge 22 leads to inclined loops 36 from the bottom parts of which liquid flows through pipes 37, 38, 39 to a collector 40 connected to pipe 23. Discharge pipe 22 may be within and concentric with the collector 40.
