Abstract

743,091. Flexible pipes. ROLLS-ROYCE, Ltd. Oct. 8, 1954 [Oct. 9, 1953], No. 27904/53. Class 99(2). In a hose pipe of the type comprising an inner layer 11 of rubber surrounded by successive layers of textile or asbestos and metallic braiding and an outer layer 15 of rubber, the layer 11 is extruded onto a layer 10 of braiding, e.g. of cotton, nylon or " Terylene " (Registered Trade Mark). As shown, the hose incorporates layers 12 and 14 of cotton braiding separated by a layer 13 of steel pianowire braiding. The hose may be wrapped in damp canvas or fabric, placed in an autoclave and subjected to an appropriate curing temperature.
