742,848. Fuel-injection pumps. PORN & DUNWOODY, Ltd. Oct. 21, 1954, [Oct. 21, 1953], No. 29100/53. Class 102(1). In a fuel-injection pump, the delivery is controlled by opening a spring loaded by-pass valve 10, during the latter part of the delivery stroke, by a push rod 20 actuated by a lever 22 mounted on an adjustable fulcrum 24 and the fuel by-passed flows through passages 14, 16 to a closed vessel 18 provided with an air buffer, flexible wall etc. During the next suction stroke, the fuel returns through valve 10 to the pump cylinder. The pump has a suction valve 8 and a delivery valve as described in Specification 742,847 to prevent drip at the injector.
