A slide fastener slider comprises a slider body including two spaced-apart wing portions forming therein a Y-shaped guide channel of predetermined depth in the operative position thereof, biasing means yieldingly urging the wing portions toward at least one other position for increasing the depth of the guide channel, and a latch member pivotally connected to one of the wing portions having a shoulder on the free end thereof which co-operates with a shoulder on the other wing portion so as to normally maintain the wing portions in the first-named position, the latch member being manually operable for selectively releasing the wing portions from the first-named position for increase in the depth of the guide channel and corresponding looseness of the slider on the fastener members of the fastener. In the arrangement according to Figs. 4 and 6 a slider comprises spaced similar plates 23, 24 connected by a telescopically expansible neck 25 formed by a boss 27 extending inwardly of plate 23 and a co-operating socket member 30 extending inwardly of plate 24. The boss 27 and the socket portion of the member 30 are non-circular in shape, the outer side surfaces of the member 30 conforming to a generally wedge-shaped configuration to permit passage of fastener elements during movements of the slider in the opening and closing of the fastener. The boss 27 and member 30 are loaded by a spring 29, the lower end of which bears on a head 42 of a trigger member 40 which is pivoted on a pin 37 in a groove 34 formed in the socket member 30 and extending into the plate 24. An upwardly extending portion 43 of the member 40 is formed with a finger-piece 48 and teeth 44, 46 which latter are engageable selectively with a recessed step 47 on the plate 23 adjacent to a pull tab-supporting lug 22, to effect spreading apart of the plates 23, 24 under the action of spring 29. In a modification, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), an additional tooth is provided between teeth 44, 46. A projection 42a and recess 42b may be provided to limit the swing of member 40. In another modification, Fig. 10 (not shown), release of the member 40 may be effected by co-operating cam surfaces on the member 40 and the pull-tab. In the arrangement according to Fig. 15, in which the slider comprises spaced plates 23a, 24a, pivotally connected at one end, the plate 23a terminates in lugs 53 housing a trigger member 40a and a lug 54 formed at the corresponding end of plate 24a, the lugs 53, 54, 53 being supported by a hinge pin 55. The plate 24a is formed with an aperture 32a to accommodate the member 40a and a spring 29 between the latter and the plate 23a. Sidewalls 56 are cut away to accommodate aligned wall portions 57, the walls 56 and 57 being firmly engaged in the operative position of the slider. A transverse wall portion 58 is provided with steps 59, 60, 61 which co-operate with a tooth 66 on the member 40a to define the spacing of the plates 23a, 24a.
