Abstract

A lubricating grease composition comprises a lubricating oil and minor proportions of a mixture of lithium and calcium soaps of a C12-C24 hydroxy fatty acid, a chlorinated hydrocarbon and a sulphurized fatty oil. The soap mixture contains not less than 60 per cent calcium soap and not more than 40 per cent lithium soap. The preparation of a grease containing mineral oil, mixed lithium-calcium hydroxy stearates, chlorinated paraffin wax containing 40 per cent chlorine, sulphurized sperm oil and lead naphthenate is described.
