Abstract
741,452. Gating circuits. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO., Ltd. March 9, 1954 [July 28, 1953], No. 20901/53. Class 40 (6). An electronic gate comprises a plurality of signal input circuits, an inhibiting input circuit and an output circuit so that when pulses of the same polarity are applied simultaneously to all of the inputs no output is produced from the gate. The Figure shows a gate comprising coldcathode gas discharge tubes 1, 2 in which inputs comprising positive-going pulses are applied at V2 and V5 to the commoned anodes and to the trigger electrode of tube 1 respectively. A positive-going inhibiting pulse is applied simultaneously to the trigger electrode of tube 2. If a pulse on V2 coincides with a pulse at V3, tube 1 discharges and a positive pulse is produced at its cathode output V6. Resistors 9 and 11 are such that tube 2 fires at lower voltages than tube 1 so that when pulses are applied simultaneously at V2, V3 and V4, tube 2 alone fires and no output pulse is obtained at V6. Thus the pulses at V4 act as inhibiting pulses to prevent the coincidence of pulses at V2 and V3 producing an output pulse at V6.
