Abstract

1363715 Matrix displays SONY CORP 15 Oct 1971 [15 Oct 1970] 48126/71 Heading G5C [Also in Division H1] The anode electrodes 51 of indicator units 40 to 45 of a gas discharge display device (see Division H1) are connected through switching transistors 120 to 125 to a first signal input source 130 which may be a counter so that its output terminals 130a to 130f are energized in sequence. Corresponding cathode segments 61 to 68 in each unit are connected in common through switching transistors 141 to 148 to a second input signal source 150 and a calculator circuit 151. D.C. potentials are applied to the anode electrodes 51, cathode segments 61 to 68 and a barrier electrode 100 by a source 152. D.C. is applied between the cathode 106 and anode 107 of a keep-alive means 105 either by a separate source 153 or by the source 152. Synchronizing signals are applied to the sources 130, 150 and 153 by a clock-pulse source 154. The units are energized in the order 45 to 40, the keep-alive means 105 eliminating any delay in the firing of unit 45 due to its remoteness from unit 40.
