Abstract
741,186. Making saws. ELSWORTH, Ltd. March 1, 1954 [June 17, 1953], No. 16658/53. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XXIII] Band, circular, or long saws have teeth formed of " hard metal," such as tungstencarbide, or substantially non-ferrous hard metal alloy of metals such as chromium, cobalt and tungsten, or tipped with the hard metal which is deposited on the steel body of the saw by fusion, as by acetylene or electric welding, and extends the full thickness of the teeth. The teeth may be set below the tip 6, Fig. 1, along lines 10, or the tips 6A may be mounted on stubs 2A, Fig. 4, and set to one side only, Fig. 8, or both sides, Fig. 5. These sides may be hollow-ground and relieved rearwardly of the leading face. The teeth 13, Fig. 6, are formed entirely from hard metal and may be hollowground, as in Fig. 5, or set by grinding. In Fig. 7, the teeth 18 are formed from a continuous deposit 19 and may be hollow-ground or set by grinding.
