740,617. Making moulds. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. July 1, 1952 [July 4, 1951], No. 16549/52. Class 83 (2). In a. method of making a mould for casting or stamping there is used a pattern, Fig. 7, having dimensions in one direction greater by a fixed amount b than the corresponding dimensions of the article to be produced, Fig. 1, which pattern corresponds to a model of the article with the addition of spacers having a total thickness equal to the fixed amount band extending beyond the surface of the model as at 6, Fig. 10, the pattern then having a layer 7 electrodeposited on it and surplus coating being removed along the surface b, b<SP>1</SP>-c, c<SP>1</SP> whereupon the upper and lower mould parts separate from the pattern. As shown in Fig. 11, locating pins 8 may be provided in the pattern to form depressions which assist the assembly of the mould parts 10, 11 as shown in Fig. 12. The pattern may be made from a mould of the article by spacing the mould parts by ring and casting the pattern in the enlarged cavity so formed.
