Abstract

740,213. Attaching buckles to belts. EMOND AKTIEBOLAG, C. Feb. 17, 1954 [Feb. 20, 1953], No. 4684/54. Class 43. [Also in Group XXV] A belt buckle is attached to the non-adjustable end of a belt by a clamping device consisting of two pivotally-connected plates 10, 11 of which the latter is formed with open hooks 16 at one edge to engage the inner end of a buckle frame 17 and at the opposite end has upturned lugs 13 for attachment of the keeper plate 10 by a pivot pin 12, the adjacent edge of the plate 10 being formed with a serrated flange 14 whereby the end of a strap inserted beneath it is gripped when the plate 10 is swung downwardly towards plate 11, in which position the keeper plate prevents the buckle frame from being moved out of the hooks 16. In the example, the outer edge of the keeper plate 10 is formed with a pair of lugs 21 projecting from it at right-angles so that they interengage with a pair of slots 20 provided in the hooks 16; alternatively a rightangled flange may be provided along the outer edge of the plate 10 and arranged to close the exit of the hooks when the plate is folded downwardly. The tongue 18 of the buckle, pivotally mounted on the inner bar of the buckle frame, is located in the gap 15 between the hooks 16.
