Abstract

739,956. Suspension filing cabinets. TIPS, E. O. March 11, 1954 [March 1, 1954], No. 7155/54. Class 146(1). A filing cabinet for the suspension of perforated documents comprises a number of opposed rows of horizontal parallel pins disposed in a staggered or offset arrangement and having at least one member movable in the cabinet transversely to its length and provided on each side with a row of laterally extending pins staggered with respect to each other and cooperating with a corresponding row of pins extending laterally from similar members and/ or from one side of fixed end members of the cabinet. As shown, bars 2 of inverted U- section metal have pins 1 mounted on opposite sides in offset relation, the bars 2 being mounted to slide in rails 7 at the top of the sides of the cabinet by means of runners 6 having out-turned parts, one foot 8a being folded towards the outside of the cabinet and the other foot 8b being folded inwards so that adjacent bars 2 can move close to each other with their pins overlapping to securely hold papers filed on one set of pins and having holes to take the other, opposed, set of pins. The front and back of the cabinet have fixed bars 2a with pins 1 to co-operate with the adjacent staggered pins on a movable bar 2. A part 9 of the side of the cabinet may be made removable by flanges 9a sliding in flanges 10a on the adjoining panels 10 for cleaning the cabinet or obtaining access to an accidentally dropped document.
