Abstract

739,704. Hay-making. BAMFORDS, Ltd. Feb. 11, 1952 [March 2, 1951], No. 5060/51. Class 6 (3). In a side-delivery rake or swath turner of the kind having a frame 10 supported on a plurality of wheels 13, 14, 15, the frame supporting two reels or discs 29 carrying rake bars 30 disposed at an angle to the direction of travel, means are provided for releasably locking at least one of the supporting wheels in either of two alternative positions for working or transport of the machine. As shown lugs 25 are provided for attachment to a tractor drawbar 24 for use when trailing the machine for working and lugs 22 are provided for attachment to a tractor for use when trailing the machine for transport. The groundwheel 15 is attached to a stem 18 provided with keyways 27, 28 spaced 90 degrees apart. A set screw 26 is adapted to engage in the keyways to lock the stem in either of two positions. The keyway 27 is used when the machine is working and is elongated to allow the machine frame to be vertically adjustable. The wheels 13, 14 are freely mounted but may be arranged to be locked in two positions. Specifications 685,527 and 685,600 are referred to.
