In a steering gear wherein groups of balls in the threads of a nut 2 which is connected to the road wheels are engaged by screw-threads on a steering spindle 1, one or more pairs of return tubes 3 for the balls are provided and each tube is semicircularly curved to rise clear of the nut surface, each pair of tubes being secured to a projection 2a on the nut by a resilient clip 4 and a single bolt 5. In modifications, dispensing with the projection 2a, the clip 4 is secured by a bolt and a tubular distance-piece or by a nut on a spacing stud.
