Abstract
Anhydrous sodium sulphide is produced by reacting sodium sulphate with reducing gases in a fluidized layer, the walls of the reaction chamber which come into contact with said layer being kept at a temperature which is not higher than that of the layer. Heat may be supplied to the layer by preheating the gas or the sodium sulphate to a temperature above that in the layer. The walls may be uninsulated or only slightly insulated, to permit heat radiation. Specification 700,132 is referred to.
