Abstract
The tendency of textile materials to become soiled is reduced by impregnating them with an aqueous solution containing 0.5-10 gms. per litre of a water-soluble derivative of a polyalkylene oxide wax, which contains at least one aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic, aliphatic-aromatic, aliphatic-cycloaliphatic or aromatic-cycloaliphatic radical united through oxygen, sulphur or nitrogen, preferably an ester or amide group, to the polyalkylene oxide wax radical, the polyalkylene oxide wax having a molecular weight of at least 2000. In an example, linen is treated with an bath containing monostearic acid polyethylene glycol having a molecular weight of about 6000.
