Abstract

738,356. Clocks. BELL PUNCH CO., Ltd. Sept. 1, 1953, No. 24185/53. Class 139. The driving force from a mainspring in a barrel 2, Fig. 1, to an escapement 11, 12 is maintained constant by the insertion in the drive to the escapement of a power-absorbing transmission device. The said device comprises a pinion 7 driven from the barrel 2 through gearing 3, 4, 5, 6 and carrying an arm 14, Fig. 3, which passes through a slot in a gear 8 loose on the shaft of the pinion 7. Attached to the arm 14 is one end of a coil spring 17 which at one end surrounds a stationary member 15 and at the other the bush of the gear 8 to which it is attached. The coil spring 17 transmits sufficient force to drive the escapement, the excess force being absorbed by a coil or coils of the spring 17 binding on the stationary member 15. If desired the stationary member may surround the spring. As described the invention is applied to the clock of a taximeter.
