Abstract

738,124. Rotary meters. HERMAN, J. FAURE-. Sept. 29, 1953 [June 18, 1953], No. 26699/53. Class 110 (2). In a meter of the gyratory-piston type, the liquid being metered passes through the casing 1, 2 around the metering chamber 13, in approximately straight lines from an inlet 19 to an outlet 20. A by-pass allows excess liquid, returned from the delivery point, which may be an engine being supplied with fuel oil, to be led again to this point without its passing through the metering chamber. A window 7 exposes the rotary recording numbers of the usual geared system 18 which is immersed in the liquid being measured. A gyratory piston 11 is guided around its chamber by a pin 16 which engages a roller 14, supported on a peg 15. The piston may be drilled with lightening holes. The pin 16 drives a star-wheel 17 and thus the recording system. A port 21 allows the excess liquid returning from the delivery point to be re-delivered by way of the outlet 20, without being re-metered. Fig. 2 shows a by-pass, controlled by a needle-valve 24, which allows the passage of liquid around the meter when the latter is stopped. The piston 11 may be provided with a central depression 46, Fig. 5 (not shown) and lightening holes.
