Abstract

Azoic dyeings, fast to cross-dyeing, are pro-produced on acetyl cellulose, linear polyamide or polyurethane fibres by applying an aqueous solution containing (1) a diazotizable base of the formula: <FORM:0737270/IV (c)/1> in which the benzene ring may be further substituted by alkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy groups or by halogen atoms, R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical and R2 is alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or a hydroaromatic radical, with the exception that R1 must not be a hydrogen atom if the group <FORM:0737270/IV (c)/2> is in ortho position to the amino group or if R2 is an alkyl radical of less than 3 carbon atoms, and (2) a coupling component comprising an alkali metal compound of an acyl acetic acid arylamide of the formula: <FORM:0737270/IV (c)/3> in which R3 is alkyl or phenyl, X is alkyl or alkoxy, Y is alkoxy or halogen and Z is alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, with the proviso that Y is halogen and Z is alkyl or alkoxy, or Y is alkoxy and Z is halogen, if X is alkoxy, and that Y is halogen and Z is alkoxy if X is alkyl, effecting diazotization on the fibre and developing the dye in a hot bath. In an example, cellulose acetate rayon is treated in an aqueous bath at 75 DEG C. containing 1 - aminobenzene - 3 - sulphonic acid-di-n-propyl-amide, the sodium salt of 1-acetoacetylamino-2 : 5-dimethoxy-4-chlorobenzene, monoethanolamine, sodium chloride, ammonia and the condensation product of oleic acid chloride with albumen decomposition products, preferably lysalbic acid according to Specification 413,016, diazotization is then effected with acidified sodium nitrite solution and the dye developed with hot aqueous ammoniacal sodium acetate-oleylmethyltaurine solution.
