Abstract
Compounds of the formula <FORM:0742260/IV(a)/1> or of the formula <FORM:0742260/IV(a)/2> in which X and Y each represents an alkyl or alkoxy group or a halogen atom, or one of them represents such group or atom and the other represents hydrogen, and R represents a radical of the benzene series may be prepared by reacting phenyl isocyanates with the appropriately substituted amino-nitro-compounds followed by reduction of the products so obtained, or by nitrating and reducing appropriately substituted diphenylureas. The preparation of 4-methoxy-21,41-dimethyl-51-amino- and 3,6-dimethoxy-4-amino-1,11-diphenylurea is given.ALSO:Azoic dyeings, fast to cross-dyeing, are produced on acetyl cellulose, linear polyamide and polyurethane fibres by applying from a single bath a diazotizable amine of the formula:- <FORM:0742260/IV(c)/1> or of the formula:- <FORM:0742260/IV(c)/2> wherein R is a radical of the benzene series and X and Y each represents an alkyl or alkoxy group or a halogen atom, or one of them represents such group or atom and the other represents hydrogen, and a coupling agent comprising an arylamide of 2 : 3-hydroxynaphthoic acid or of 6-bromo-or 6-methoxy-2:3 hydroxynaphthoic acid, effecting diazotisation on the fibre and developing the dyestuff in a hot bath. In an example cellulose acetate yarn is treated in an aqueous bath at 75 DEG C. containing N-(5-amino - 2 : 4 - dimethoxyphenyl) - N1 - phenyl - urea, 1 - (21 : 31 - hydroxynaphthoylamino)-2-methoxybenzene, diethanolamine, sodium chloride, caustic soda and the condensation product from oleic acid chloride and a protein decomposition product, preferably lysalbic acid, as described in Specification 413,016, diazotisation is then effected with acidified sodium nitrate solution and development of the dyestuff effected with hot sodium acetate solution.
