Abstract
Azoic dyeings, fast to cross-dyeing, are produced on acetyl cellulose, linear polyamide and polyurethane fibres by applying an aqueous medium containing an aminophthalic acid dialkyl ester and a coupling agent comprising an alkali metal compound of an arylide of 2 : 3 - hydroxy - naphthoic acid which contains in the arylide residue an alkoxy group either alone or together with further substituents, such as halogen atoms or methyl or other alkoxy groups, effecting diazotization on the fibre and developing the dyestuff in a hot bath. In an example cellulose acetate yarn is treated in an aqueous bath at 75 DEG C. containing 4 - amino - phthalic acid diethyl ester, the sodium salt of 1 - (21 : 31 - hydroxy - naphthoylamino) - 2 - methoxybenzene, diethanolamine, sodium chloride, ammonia and the condensation product from oleic acid chloride and albumen decomposition products, preferably lysalbic acid, according to Specification 413,016 diazotization is then effected with acidified sodium nitrite solution and the dyeing developed with hot ammoniacal sodium acetate - oleylmethyltaurine solution.
