Abstract

736,889. Discharging oval cigarettes. KEMP, W. J., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Feb. 26, 1954 [March 12, 1953], No. 6798/53. Class 78 (1). Apparatus for feeding oval cigarettes in lapped formation comprises a hopper 1 having a vane assembly 6 wherein the vanes are disposed at an inclination, and means 7 for vibrating the assembly at a high speed with small amplitude whereby the cigarettes are caused to be discharged from the hopper down the slots, which are just wide enough to allow the cigarettes to move with their major axes substantially in line with the centre lines of the slots. As shown, vane assembly 6 is vibrated by bolts 7 oscillated by crank disc 14 against spring 18 so that oval cigarettes from hopper 1, stirred by stirrer 3, are caused to pass out between the vanes with their narrow axes orientated therealong, the cigarettes being deposited upon plate 19 and being pushed thereoff.
