736,811. Protective cut-out systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and POPE, B. W. Oct. 27, 1953 [Nov. 7, 1952], No. 28106/52. Class 38 (5). In an inter-trip system for circuit-breakers in which signals are transmitted either over pilot wires 1, 2 or power lines between two stations, a signal of a first frequency from a source 10, 11, Fig. 1, at the first station is transmitted continuously and on tripping of a circuit-breaker, contacts CB close to operate a relay T. Changing over of contact T1 releases relays TA, TB, TC. Relay TA has a predetermined release time and before this time elapses contact TB1 cuts off the signal from 10, 11 and contact TC1 cuts in a signal of a second frequency from a source 12, 13. On release of TA, the second signal is cut-off and the first one restored by, the re-energization of relays TB, TC over TA1. At the second station, Fig. 2, relays RA, RB are provided which are responsive. to the two signals respectively, and on receipt of the correct sequence of signals a train of relays (not shown) is operated to trip a circuit-breaker. Should the signal be in. correct or the pilot wires fail, an alarm is operated.
