Abstract

576,998. Protective cut-out systems. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. July 6, 1944, No. 12939. Convention date, July 7, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] In a line provided at each end with reclosing circuit-breakers, which are adapted to be tripped under control both of H.F. currents transmitted over the line from the remote end, and of protective relays at their own end, undesired permanent disconnection by transient disturbances is prevented by arranging for the H.F. currents to perform only the disconnection followed by re-connection, final disconnection being left to the protective relays, which are preferably of the distance type. Circuitbreakers 2a, 2b are provided with switch coils 4a, 4b for interrupting a line 1 and reclosing it, and with switch coils 5a, 5b for final disconnection. If a distance relay 3a operates due to a short-circuit, the coils 4a, 4b are immediately energized, the former by relay 3a, the latter by H.F. signals transmitted from 6a to receiver 7b. Change-over switches 8a, 8b are operated by the coils 4a, 4b with time delay, so that final opening of the breakers 2a, 2b due to a fault can only occur by operation of the distance relays 3a, 3b. Disturbances on a sound line due to over-voltages merely produce operation of the coil 4a or 4b and temporary disconnection.
