Abstract
630,999. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd.. and WILCOX, T. W. March 25, 1947 No. 8131. [Class 38(v)] In a distribution system having split-conductor projection, the circuit interrupters each comprise a circuit-breaker 1 of the air-blast type or of the low oil-content, oilblast type, having a series air break switch 2 closing before, and opening after, the main circuit breaker contacts. The series switch 2 is constructed with a separate blade for connection to each line 5 of the split-conductor, the two blades of each phase being relatively lightly insulated from each other and having common insulation to earth. Hence when a split-conductor cable is being supplied from one end only, the primary windings of the protective transformer 6 at the other end are disconnected from each other, so that a fault in one line of the split-conductor can only be fed through one primary winding of the protective transformer at the supply end. The interrupter may be provided with isolators 3, 4.
