In an absorption refrigerating system of the continuous cycle inert gas type having an analyzer 11 fed with strong solution from the liquid heat exchanger 18, the gases from the analyzer pass through a pipe 13 to a vessel 14 in which they are cooled by strong solution flowing through a pipe 20 and which acts as a trap for condensate from the gases. Surplus condensate enters the pipe 20 through an aperture 17, or through a pipe leading from the vessel 14 to the feed part of pipe 20 in which case the highest part of pipe 20 is vented to the pipe 15 leading to the condenser (Fig. 2, not shown). There may be a further liquid heat exchanger 16 between the absorber vessel 2 and the vessel 14. Pipe 20 may be in heat exchange relation with the exterior of vessel 14. Several vessels 14 may be provided and are traversed in series both by the strong solution and by the expelled gases. A further liquid heat exchanger 12 is provided between the analyzer 11 and the boiler system. A reactance coil 9 is provided for the pump 8. The heating cartridge 5 may be inserted in the heating tube from above. A final rectifier may be provided in pipe 15. Specification 516,912 is referred to.
