Abstract
736,763. Feeding webs. BENTELERWERKE AKT.-GES. Nov. 10, 1953, No. 31083/53. Class 100 (1). A method of passing a web of material through a substantially closed space in which it is treated, e.g. bleached, dyed or de-sized, includes the steps of initially passing a free end of the web 4 through inlet rollers 5, attaching the end to a roller 2 which is rotated, e.g. clockwise, to wind on a predetermined length of web, and thereafter attaching to a second roller 3 a part of the web situated between the rollers 2, 5 and rotating the two rollers 2, 3, e.g. anticlockwise, so that a double layer is wound on the roller 3 until the initial free end is released from roller 2; the free end of the web is then passed through outlet rollers 9 as shown and the drive of the rollers 2, 3 reversed. Just prior to the reversal of the drive, a part of the web 4 situated between the rollers 3, 5 is attached to roller 2 so that a double layer is now wound thereon until the treated web is free of roller 3 and is drawn out of the chamber. An intermediate part of the web is now attached to roller 3 as before and the above operations repeated. The fabric may be passed to and fro between the rollers 2, 3 several times and a number of pairs of rollers 2, 3 may be provided in sequence in the chamber.
