Abstract

736,319. Spring clips. ILLINGWORTHS (PLASTICS), Ltd. Oct. 6, 1953 [Oct. 6, 1952], No. 25030/52. Class 44., A clip for sealing the mouth of a carton and of the kind which is basically of narrow channel shape has the sides formed with opposed series of inner pointed protrusions 12 in a manner such that removal of the clip from a carton in a direction axially of the carton or depth-wise of the clip is strongly resisted by a biting action of the protrusions or certain of them on the mouth-forming parts of the carton. As shown the clip comprises two channel-shaped sections 2, 3, joined by bars 4, 5 in line with their mouths and having lugs 6, 7, 8, 9 projecting from their free ends. The protrusions 12, of the shape shown in Fig. 3, are formed on opposed faces of the bars 4, 5 and may be in staggered relationship or otherwise. The clip is engaged with or disengaged from the carton by sliding it longitudinally for which purpose the lugs 6-9 are rounded to provide flared mouths.
