736,288. Valves. COUSINS, W. R. Dec. 15, 1953 No. 34954/53. Class 135. In a valve comprising a casing divided into two compartments 11, 12, by a diaphragm 10 and in which the diaphragm carries the closure member 15, the diaphragm and closure member are actuated from an eccentric 21 through a connecting rod 24 and a piston 9, and the eccentric, connecting rod, and piston work in an oil bath in chamber 11. The valve shown is actuated by a float 32 with a disc 21 eccentrically mounted on the rotary shaft 20 carrying the float arm. The connecting rod 24 is carried by a circular strap surrounding the disc 21. The diaphragm is clamped between the piston and the closure member, and means 13 is provided to support the diaphragm when in its lowered position. Passages 33 through the piston allow the free circulation of oil. A throttling screw to regulate the flow is provided at the upper end of the inlet pipe 2. A restricted by-pass flow is led from the chamber 12 to the rim of the toilet fitting to which the valve is applied.
