736,062. Piston packing. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Oct. 16, 1953 [Oct. 20, 1952], No. 28617/53. Class 122 (1). [Also in Group XXVII] A piston ring is provided with at least the rubbing surface made of wood, or mainly of wood or wood fibres, impregnated throughout with a lubricant. The piston ring may be expanded by a ring of rubber or by springs 27 in the case of a segment ring. Alternatively, the ring 32 may be supported by a metal backing 33. Compressed wood or plywood may be used with the grain extending transversely to the rubbing surface. Graphite, molybdenum disulphide or a mixture of mineral oils and fatty acid soaps with a drop point between 150- 200‹ C. may be used as a lubricant.
