Abstract

735,961. Floodlights. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 4, 1954 [April 30, 1953], No. 12044/53. Class 75 (4). A floodlight comprises a housing 1 carrying a lampholder and containing a non-tarnishing reflector 4 and a transparent or translucent cover 10 having a flange embracing the housing and comprising an upper returned part 11 engaging with the housing and a lower inturned part 19 forming an oblique angle with the plane of the cover, the cover being held captive by pins 16 on the lower part of the housing engaging in slots 14 in end walls of the cover and the pins and slots permitting movement of the upper returned part 11 of the flange away from the housing to allow the cover to pivot about the pins to open position. In the fully open position the lower part 19 of the flange engages the outer surface of the casing. In the closed position a space is formed between the lower edges of the cover and housing and the end walls of the cover lie flat along the end walls of the housing. The pins 16 consist of bolts threaded into brackets on the housing. The edges of the reflector are beaded and housed in U-shaped channels formed at the edges of the housing. The housing is pivotally mounted on a U-shaped bracket 2. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 694,984.
