Abstract

1485204 Lamp fittings SIEMENS AG 6 May 1975 [7 May 1974 19033/75 Heading F4R A light fitting for mounting on a ceiling 7, e.g. housing a high pressure halogen discharge lamp 2, comprises a base 3 with a socket 31 and a diffusely reflective surface 30, a reflector 1 with a central aperture 13 into which the lamp 2 projects and which is arranged to reflect light on to the base surface 30, and a light-impervious shield 4 around the reflector. As shown, the reflector and shield are attached to the base 3 by a transparent glass cover 8. Some light passes down through the aperture 13 and is diffused by a cover 5 over the shield opening. The angles a, # depending on the size of the luminous portion 21 of the lamp and the position of the shield/reflector edge are chosen to be substantially 6 degrees each. The base joins the cover 8 at a corner 35 defining a shadow cone from the end 22 of the luminous region 21 with a maximum diameter D5 less than that D6 of the base 3. The aperture 13 is 3À6 times that of the luminous region 21.
