Abstract
735,891. Electroplating. WURTTEMBERGISCHE METALLWARENFABRIK. Nov. 24, 1952 [Nov. 24, 1951], No. 29712/52. Class 41. In plating an article such as a spoon 9 the electrolyte is directed from an anode chamber 1 through apertures in an insulating partition 14, on to those parts of the article requiring a deposit of extra thickness; the apertures may be constituted by interchangeable narrow tubes 11. As shown, the anode chamber is pressure-tight and flow is effected by a pump 16 through a filter 20. The cathode chamber is provided with a cooling coil 15 and the anode chamber with a heating coil 6. The anode 4 is provided with apertures 5 which are preferably opposite the apertures 11 in the partition. In a modification the anode compartment is separate from and situated above the cathode chamber and communicates therewith by a pipe depending into the catholyte, in which pipe the apertures such as 11 are formed. The electrolyte passes from the anode chamber to the cathode chamber by gravity and is returned to the anode chamber by a pump.
