Abstract

735,575. Belt gearing. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Aug. 6, 1952 [May 14, 1952], No. 19776/52. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXX] In order to prevent transverse movement of an endless driving or conveyer belt 2 a con. tinuous narrow groove 28 is formed in the inner surface of the belt and engages raised rings 26 formed on the ends of the pairs of opposed frusto-conical rolls 8 which comprise the belt pulleys. The bearings for at least one of the pulleys are adjustable to ensure parallelism of the pulley axes. The grooved belt may be of moulded rubber or may comprise a metal strip with spaced friction liners straddling the rings 26. A flat wire conveyer belt, Fig. 7, is shaped to form a groove for co-operation with the rings 26. Specifications 709,908, [Group XXX], 717,671 and 735,561 are referred to.
