734,785. Flyers for textile machines. SCHMOLLER, F.VON. Sept. 1. 1952 [Aug. 31, 1951 ; Sept. 29, 1951], No. 21903/52. Class 120(2). A flyer for textile machines of the type in which the legs are connected at the top by a transverse member which is fixed to a central tubular driving socket has the central aperture. of the socket or of a cap secured thereto where the roving enters the socket or cap and comes into contact therewith in the form of a polygon of which the corners are rounded. As shown a cap 7 which is moulded from a synthetic material is connected to the flyer top 5 by a hose or tube member 8. The cap 7 is provided with a square opening 10 whose corners are adapted to the diameter of the roving. The opening 10 in other embodiments is square with grooves in the middle of the sides, hexagonal and stepped with different polygonal shapes at each step. Alternatively the cap may be attached to the flyer top by adhesive, spring clip or screw thread means.
