Abstract
734,696. Cooling commutators for dynamoelectric machines. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 19, 1953 [Oct. 21, 1952], No. 26405/52. Class 35. Part of the insulation m separating the segments a of a V-ring type commutator is cut away to provide a radial path h for cooling air between the segments. Further air passages p and q may be cut in the hub or end-plates to allow an entry flow path for the air. The sides of the segments may be cut away at the air channel to increase the flow and spacing buttons g, e.g. of glass, may be inserted between the segments. Clamps r at either end may be used to prevent twisting of the segments.
