Abstract
743,136. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and LAING, J. W. May 4, 1954 [May 5, 1953], No. 12490/53. Class 35, The side walls of conductor slots are recessed to provide cooling passages, the conductor being free of insulation in the vicinity of the recesses to allow the cooling medium in the passages to have direct access to the conductors. As shown, radially extending recesses 4 are formed at intervals along the slot walls and allow coolant to pass from sub-slots 5 to the air gap through slots or holes in the slot wedges. The slot liners are cut away or apertured in the vicinity of the recesses or they may be shaped to fit the latter as at 6H, Fig. 5, to enable the coolant to contact the conductors.
