In a battery-operated horn, operation of a push-button 27 pushes the battery 23 forward against the pressure of the spiral spring 25 to cause the battery terminal 24 to contact the point 18 which is connected to one terminal of the horn unit 15. The circuit for the horn is completed via the casing 12, 13 and the pushbutton, which is provided with points 29 for contact with the base of the battery. The contact 18 is insulatedly mounted on the springy support 19. The casing is in two parts which can be screwed together at 14. Mounting means 30, 31 is provided for fixing the horn on a bicycle handle-bar.
