Abstract
734,420. Capacitors &c. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. Oct. 14, 1953 [July 18, 1952], No. 18231/52. Class 37. In the manufacture of roll capacitors of the leadthrough type wherein the alternate windings are brought out at. opposite ends of the roll, a gauze disc is pressed on one or each end of the roll and has its edge splayed into contact with an electrode to which it is soldered, the gauze being flooded with solder in the process. A roll capacitor B is assembled on insulating sleeve B1 on mounting bolt A between ceramic bushes E and G. At the upper end sleeve B is cut off short and gauze I splayed into contact with bolt A and flooded with solder, while insulating washer E1 separates the gauze from the bush. At the other end gauze J with a central clearance hole J1, has its edges splayed over the shoulder of bush G, and a metal sleeve D which at its upper end is soldered to metallized portion E2 of the upper bush, is soldered to the gauze J at the shoulder while the end cap which completes the casing is soldered at D6 to bush G. The unit is completed by resilient sealing washers F, H which are forced into engagement with bolt A by nuts F1, H1 respectively. Specification 656,720 is referred to.
