Abstract

734,367. Tube expanders. MERCER, C. E. C., and BRITISH STEAM SPECIALTIES, Ltd. Dec. 24, 1953 [Jan. 26, 1953], No. 2199/53. Class 83 (4). A tube expander includes a body portion 1 having mounted in a recess at one end a longitudinally segmented bush 3 which is expanded radially, against the action of a coil spring 11, by axial movement of a conical mandrel 5. This is effected by rotation of an internally threaded nut 6 rotatably mounted in the other end of the body portion 1 and threading onto a threaded end 7 of the mandrel, rotation of the mandrel being prevented by the engagement of a pin 15 thereon in a longitudinal slot 16 in the body 1. An adjustable stop against which the end of the. mandrel may abut may be provided by prolonging the bore of the nut 6 and inserting an adju-ts able stop screw therein.
