Abstract

733,885. Flexible couplings. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER AKTIEBOLAG. March 20, 1953 [March 20, 1952], No. 7754/53. Class 80 (2). An axially-resilient but torsionally-stiff coupling between the ends of two shafts 10, 12 comprises a flexible disc 22 with a central hub part secured to a flange 20 on shaft 12 and with tapering radial spokes 28 secured individually at their outer ends to a flange 16 on shaft 10. The outer peripheries of the arms 28 are confined by a shoulder 34 on flange 16 such that the arms are initially stressed radially inwards, it being stated that this pre-stressing reduces the axial force produced on the occurrence of relative axial movement of the shafts. The spaces between the spokes 28 may be parallel-sided, and the shaft 12 may be piloted in the end of shaft 10.
