Abstract

733,772. Setting-off warps. RUNKNAGAL, R., and PICOTEX, Ltd. Jan. 10, 1952 [Oct. 10, 1950], No. 24770/50. Class 142(2). [Also in Group VIII] Warp threads are fed from a beam 6, rotated by means including a clutch capable of slipping and comprising co-axial driving and driven members which rotate at the same speed when permitted to do so ; and the threads pass 6 a region of intermittent utilisation over a bar 7 which is displaceable in one direction upon increase in warp pressure on it, to release a brake and so permit rotation of the beam and in the reverse direction, upon decrease in the pressure, to engage the brake and arrest rotation of the supply, causing the clutch to slip. The clutch may be a multi-plate friction clutch 9, or an electromagnetic clutch, to the driven member of which a brake drum 10 is connected directly, or through gearing 23, 123, Fig. 1. Normally, brake shoes 11a, 11b hold the drum stationary, but, as warp tension increases, bar 7 is pulled down and, through linkwork and jaws 20, rocks levers 16, 17 to release it.
