Abstract

733,219. Distributing television. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and HUNT, G. J. March 15, 1954 [March 13, 1953], No. 7020/53. Class 40 (4). In a television distribution network in which the .same pair carries the high-frequency television signals and the audio signals, a junction unit for connecting a distribution cable L to two or more cables 6, 7 consists of one or more condensers 4, 5 in series with one or more tapped coils 2, 3, the whole combination being connected across the cable 1, and the condenser and part or all of the coils being connected across the cables 6, 7. The condensers have high impedance for audio frequencies but low impedance for television frequencies. The tappings are arranged so that the paralleled characteristic impedances of the cables 6, 7, as modified by the transformer action of the coils 2, 3, match the characteristic impedance of the cable 1. The tappings may be chosen to achieve a desired division of power between the cables 6, 7.
