Abstract

750,040. Telephone transmission systems. ESTAUGH, W. Jan. 20, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1954], No. 5210/54. Class 40 (4). The system for transmission over a concentric cable comprising a central signalling conductor a, an outer conductor e and an intermediate shielding conductor b described in Specification 479,911, which employs a charging battery f at the receiving end and a signalling battery i of lower voltage at the transmitting end connected as shown, is modified by the earthing of the outer conductor e at both ends. The resistances k, I at the transmitting end are adjusted independently to reduce the potentials at O, P to approximately one half the values at the receiving end of the cable, thus giving a similar fall of potential along conductors a, b.
