[Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXIII] In a system of controls in which each of at least two tension links includes a disengageable connector including two mating parts which lie alongside one another and are held together by a surrounding member, the adjacent surfaces of the mating parts being formed with projections and recesses interengaging to prevent relative longitudinal movement, the distribution of projections and recesses of one connector is different from that of any other so that the controls cannot be interchanged. In part of a control linkage for an aircraft, two oppositely acting tension cables A, B, Fig. 1, are respectively connected by separable connectors A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> to chains A<SP>2</SP>, B<SP>2</SP>. Referring to Fig. 2, the mating parts C, D of each connector are generally semi-cylindrical so that when mated form a substantially cylindrical surface. The interengaging surfaces C<SP>1</SP>, D<SP>1</SP> mate in an axial plane of the connector. Rectangular ribs and grooves formed on one surface mate with corresponding grooves and ribs on the other surface. A shackle E on the part C is pivotally connected to its chain whilst the part D has a bore D<SP>5</SP> to receive its cable which is then secured by a pin locatable in a hole D<SP>6</SP>. A surrounding sleeve F for the connector A<SP>1</SP> is provided with an internal thread H to engage a thread G, Fig. 2. A modified sleeve J for the connector B<SP>1</SP> is slidably mounted on the part D and is urged to its operative position by a spring K. Alternatively the sleeve may be held in place by a spring ball catch or by a pin passing through it and one of the mating parts. The spacing of the ribs and grooves is different for the two connectors so that the part D of one connector cannot be mated with the part C of the other connector and thus interchanging of the control cables is prevented. Other forms of projections and recesses may be provided on the mating parts in lieu of those shown. The connector parts may be swaged to the cables and chains.
