Abstract

<PICT:0732835/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0732835/IV (a)/2> A carburetter float is formed from interfitting or abutting components moulded from a petrol-proof plastic material and secured together to define a hollow body by petrol-proof cement. In Fig. 2 the float comprises a circular channel-shaped lower member 10 with walls 11, 14 cemented into channels in a closure cap 23. In modifications the outer edge of the cap is made flush with the outer wall of the lower part 10. In Fig. 5 the float has a rectangular cross section and comprises bowl-shaped upper and lower members 38, 37 cemented at 41. For a pivoted float a metal member attaching the float to its pivot is moulded with the lower part 37 but in a modication a circular float, constructed of two circular cup-like parts attached as in Fig. 5, is provided with a needle valve moulded into one of the parts. A suitable plastic material for the float is that known by the Registered Trade Mark "Bakelite" moulding material X10930, and a suitable cement is that known as "Bakelite" type G11116, used with an accelerator known as "Bakelite" type Q11117.
