636,809. Sewing. PETERSEN, H. G. May 5, 1948, No. 12302. [Class 112] Thimbles. A thimble of plastic material has a threadcutting blade fitted in it, preferably by insertion during moulding, and arranged to lie below the level of the surface of the thimble. In the form shown, a circular or crossshaped blade 5 is moulded into the thickened end of the thimble and projects into several notches 4 in the outer surface of the latter. In a modification, a small blade may be moulded, or cemented, into a single notch such as 4; in this case a local internal thickening of the thimble wall may be provided to accommodate the notch, or, when the blade is inserted after manufacture, any blade edge protruding internally may be covered by plastic or other substance. According to the Provisional Specification the notch with the blade may be formed in a boss formed as a screwed attachment for the thimble or moulded integrally therewith.
